Starwin's Darwin Artist-in-Residence is Kreative Karina, a proud Papuan, Aboriginal, and Torres Strait Islander Woman.
'KK' is a kreative force. She paints, crafts seeded jewellery, creates digital designs for clothing, accessories, and eco-towels, and has an immense passion for photography. Along with hosting creative workshops for the next generation in 2023, she has also stepped up to design Starwin's custom packages - an opportunity through our Australia Post's Local Business Hero 2023.
Commissioned for MK Eco by Starwin, KK designed a beautiful artwork with this story:
'The packages are celebrating a love of the ocean and the Tropical North, especially the colours of the shores of Jikilaruwu country Tiwi Islands. Currently, Tiwi family are fighting in courts against the Santos Barossa Gas Project, to preserve Sacred Sites and Songlines of their country. We wanted to be able to bring awareness to the staunch Tiwi Elders standing their ground.'
The design is speckled with our signature starfish, recalling the Starfish Parable Story, and features our #oneofakindness message - embodying our vision to grow a Made with Kindness Economy.
This design is a love letter to Starwin's Collective, Community, Story, and Values.
