Yirrikipayi Story by MK

Launching the Ruth collection: one-of-a-kindness legacy project, curated by Joy~Ray~Flo.
MK is the great-granddaughter of Ruth Friday, with Yanyuwa bloodlines. On her first visit to her great-grandmothers hometown of Borroloola in 2021, MK Palipuaminni (at age 5) was guided from Rhoda Hammer at Waralungku Arts, to create an art piece, which features animals from MK's favourite Tiwi story book 'No Way Yirrikipayi'.
MK had a dream to create handmade organic clothing for kids. MK's artwork was printed in Australia on a blend of recycled linen and organic cotton fabric and brought to life by Boab Bub who created pieces for little ones, all made with kindness.
---
From MK: "These clothes are special, made from my painting I did at Borroloola. These animals help me remember my families and those who passed away. We will respect animals, country and ancestors."
In the spirit of kindness, proceeds are supporting on country learning for little ones at Indi Kindy in Borroloola, NT.
Curated by Joy~Ray~Flo, this was a collaborative project with clothing made by Boab Bub, the logo and tags by Tiwi designer, Clair Helen and photography by Kreative Karina.
